The Dinnie Stones originated in the 1830s as counterweights for the Potarch Bridge in Scotland, their iron rings added for this purpose. They gained legendary status after strongman Donald Dinnie carried them across the bridge barehanded in 1860, a feat immortalized in history. Lost for decades after WWI, the stones were rediscovered by David Webster in 1953. Donald Dinnie, a renowned strongman from the late 1800’s, was asked to move the stones and instead performed a legendary act of strength.
